Kingswood Secondary Academy

Religious Studies

Religious Studies is taught across the three Key Stages in the Academy. We incorporate lessons from the Northants Agreed Syllabus and deliver optional courses at GCSE for Years 10 and 11 and GCE for Years 12 and 13. We aim to provide a broad based curriculum in which students will increase their knowledge and understanding of the world we live in whilst being encouraged to respond to significant questions of meaning and value in a caring and sharing ethos.

What have our pupils said about the RS Department?

'Religious Studies helps me to express my opinions in a respectful way. It also teaches me how I should handle sensitive situations in the world and within different cultural societies.’ Ceara, year 9

‘Religious Studies is a good subject because we get to discuss our opinions and gain a better understanding of others.’ Evie, year 9

‘Religious Studies gives you a wider understanding of the world we live in, e.g. learning about different religions and current issues. It allows you to be optimistic and enables you to put across your own opinions and questions. Religious Studies also allows you to understand why people may disagree with you and your beliefs systems.’ Ruvimbo, year 10

‘Religious Studies allows for us to learn in depth knowledge about religion and cultural societies. It gives us an opportunity to express our own beliefs and compare them to others. We learn about other beliefs as well as our own.’ Remi, year 9
