Kingswood Secondary Academy

Staff

Faye Commons – Head of Geography

"I joined Kingswood in January 2011. I completed a Human Geography degree at Nottingham Trent university in 2003, my PCGE in Geography at The University of Nottingham in 2004. I then went on to complete a Masters degree in ‘Educational Leadership and Innovation’ in 2011. I have taught at 3 schools previously, with a vast amount of my experience being at GCSE and A- Level. In my previous school I held the position of ‘Leading Edge coordinator’ which allowed me to go and learn about education in other places, both UK and abroad. Being part of the school day in Sweden and Japan was just incredible. I love travelling and photography and as Head of Geography I want to share my passion with as many students as I can. One of the ways of doing this is being responsible for the school visit to The Gambia and other trips within the geography department."

Lisa Hedges – Assistant Principal/Teacher of Geography

Beth Hardy - Teacher of Geography and Careers, Employability and Aspiration lead

"I love working at Kingswood, I enjoy the challenges of working with talented, creative and passionate young people every day. In my current role I am working to improve the opportunities for every student in moving forwards in their future careers. I began my teaching career after two years of voluntary work with a P.G.C.E. in Geography and P.E. from Manchester Metropolitan University after gaining my BSc Geography degree from the University of Liverpool."

Jonathan Chew – Teacher of Humanities

“I have been at Kingswood since 2016. I gained my degree at Sussex University in Brighton and have taught in several schools in the county with the last 5 years being in Corby schools. I teach years 7, 8 and 9, although have taught all the key stages at different points in my career and my main interest is History.”

Jennifer McDougall - Teacher of Geography

"I began working at Kingswood Secondary Academy in September 2017, starting my first year at Kingswood alongside my form class.   Prior to working at KSA I studied Geography at the University of Northampton, completed my PGCE and interned with the RSPB in Scotland and Norwich. Here I explored the wilder parts of Britain in an effort to educate about, preserve and protect nature for future generations. My work with the RSPB motivated me to enter the world of teaching and I look forward to inspiring students through humanities to explore the world and what it has to offer. "
